DESCRIPTION:Music of Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert\nNMPAS Artistic Director Franz Vote has wanted to perform this repertoire for several years, and we’re thrilled present it as a Chamber Concert this season. Brahms and Schubert both wrote scores of songs like these for vocal quartet. The Brahms songs on this program include several from opus 92 (O schöne Nacht, Spätherbst, Abendlied, Warum?) and a single song each from opuses 31 (Neckereien), 64 (An die Heimat) and 112 (Sehnsucht). A selection of Schubert masterpieces includes La Pastorella, Der Tanz, Begräbnislied, An die Sonne, Wiegenlied op 98 no 2, and Der 23.
